Stories and Songs of the People: The Second Stage

50 minutes, musical performance & documentary.

‘THE SECOND STAGE’ documents the second ‘STORIES AND SONGS OF THE PEOPLE’ series of performances and forums held in Australia in 2000.

In a time when issues such as reconciliation were (and still are) prevalent, these events resulted from the desire to establish a cultural and educational exchange between Indigenous cultures from around the globe – in this case Australian Aborigines, Torres Strait Islanders, Native Americans and Tibetans.

In this video many of the performers and organisers involved in the events discuss some of the indigenous issues that they feel are important at this time.

PERFORMING ARTISTS : Frankie Yamma & Piranpa, Kelli Howell Band, King Kadu , Kutcha Edwards & Paul Hester, Illana Atkinson, Herb Patton, Nick Larkins, Jarrah, Gnarnayarrahe Waitairie, Music as Medicine, Tibetan artists Tenzing Tsewang & Tenzin Choegyal, and Native American artists Robert Owen & Johnnie Aseron.
